Red was recorded by the band’s third line-up in 1974 and is considered by some - myself included - to be Fripp’s crowning achievement, surpassing even the prodigious In the Court of the Crimson King. The sound of the group incorporated several influences, ranging from jazz, classical, experimental, psychedelic, heavy metal, new wave, hard rock, folk and electronic. "Red" is one of my favorite King Crimson discs, and easily, in my opinion, the very best record the band made in the 1970s.
